WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement commenting on the Biden administration’s release of a review of the Afghanistan withdrawal:
“The Biden administration is again refusing to take responsibility. Their withdrawal from Afghanistan was a shameful disaster. Thirteen Americans – including one Nebraskan – lost their lives. Our enemies have been emboldened, and our allies are questioning our resolve. President Biden – who ordered this withdrawal – has again refused to take any responsibility. He is the Commander-in-Chief; the buck stops with him. The American people and the allies we abandoned in Afghanistan deserve real accountability.”
