“Hi, this is Pete Ricketts, Senator for the great state of Nebraska.

“Today we celebrate the 247th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

“Whether you are gathering with family and friends to watch fireworks, grill out, or marching in one of the many parades across our state, let us honor those that made the Good Life possible.

“We remember these words, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights. That among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.’
