VIDEO: Ricketts Highlights Biden Administration’s Politicization of Infrastructure Spending

March 15, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) questioned Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency about the challenges rural areas face in receiving government funding for clean water, replacement of lead service pipes, and prevention of emerging contaminants.

“Previously, having been governor, one of the things that I’m very well aware of is water infrastructure and how challenging it can be… not just for big cities, but also, especially in Nebraska, small rural communities,” said Senator Ricketts during questioning.

“The intent of these funds was to help communities that need the most, to be able to get the resources,” Ricketts continued. “My understanding is, though, that some communities feel like there’s been other priorities put in there with regard to climate rather than the safe drinking water. Is that something that you feel is being pushed in the legislation? Because that was not Congress’ intent.”

Ricketts’ comments came during questioning of EPA Assistant Administrator Radhika Fox during a Committee on Environment and Public Works hearing about implementing the “Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.”
