WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) released the following video statement celebrating 50 years of National Agriculture Day.

Watch the video here.

“Hi this is Pete Ricketts, Senator for the great state of Nebraska.

“Today we celebrate 50 years of National Ag Day and recognize the grit, passion, and knowledge our ag producers bring to bear everyday.

“One in four jobs in our state is tied to agriculture, representing more than $21.4 billion in economic output in 2019.

“Nebraska’s 44,000 farmers and ranchers feed and fuel, not just our state and nation, but also the world. And I can’t think of a more noble mission than that. They also lead in conservation and innovation.

“And while corn and beef may come first to mind, it also leads the way in soybeans, wheat, popcorn, pork, and more.

“But it’s the grit and resilience of Nebraska agriculture that has shined through in recent years. From the historic flooding of 2019 to the ongoing effects of the COVID pandemic. Time and time again, Nebraskans have stepped up to ensure a safe and reliable food supply.

“This Ag Day, we must remember agriculture is more than just our number one industry in the state of Nebraska, it’s also the heart and soul of what we do. And we thank the great Nebraskans who produce food, feed, and fuel we rely on everyday.

“Happy Ag Day, Nebraska!”
