Ricketts Releases Statement on Health Care Votes

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) released the following statement after voting for a healthcare proposal led by Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Mike Crapo (R-ID):

“From the beginning, Obamacare has been broken promise after broken promise. Nebraskans couldn’t keep their doctor.  Premiums have more than tripled since 2013. Biden’s COVID bonuses fueled massive waste, fraud, and abuse.  Despite the misguided “fixes”, healthcare costs continued to grow.  The Democrats’ ‘plan’ of throwing more money at a broken system will only make these problems worse.

“The Republican plan gives money to people, not insurance companies.  It includes common-sense reforms to lower healthcare costs and combat waste, fraud, and abuse.  It builds on the successes of the ‘Working Families Tax Cuts Act’, which expanded access to health savings accounts.  These solutions allow people choice and will improve healthcare access and affordability for Nebraskans.”
