Ricketts, Schiff Resolution Designating October as Substance Use & Misuse Prevention Month Passes Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Pete Ricketts (R-NE) and Adam Schiff (D-CA) introduced a resolution to designate October 2026 as Substance Use & Misuse Prevention Month in America. The Senate passed the bipartisan resolution on September 30.

“Substance abuse is a public health issue with terrible consequences for Nebraskans,” said Senator Ricketts.“Our loved ones and communities suffer from illegal drug use. Just last year, substance abuse affected nearly 45 million Americans. We can and must do more. This bipartisan resolution raises awareness of abuse and the need to support prevention efforts.”

“Substance use and misuse affect millions of Americans each year, from every community and of all ages,” said Senator Schiff.  “I am proud to join Senator Ricketts in supporting crucial prevention programs to combat the drug addiction and overdose epidemic in our country.”

Ricketts is a long-time champion for programs that combat the drug addiction and overdose epidemic in the United States.
