March 1, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) released the following video statement commemorating the 156th anniversary of the day President Andrew Johnson signed the proclamation declaring Nebraska the 37th state.

Watch the video here.

“Hi, this is Pete Ricketts, Senator for the great state of Nebraska.

“156 years ago, Nebraska became our 37th state. A lot has changed since then, but one thing remains the same: Nebraskans continue to chase new frontiers and break barriers.

As Governor, and now as your Senator, I’m proud we are consistently ranked as one of the top 10 best states overall. We continue leading the nation on issues like education, infrastructure, natural environment, and opportunity. And we’re not afraid of hard work, leading the nation with the 6th lowest unemployment rate in the country.

Nebraska is what America is supposed to be. Our state has a bright future ahead and I promise to fight for that future every day I’m honored to serve you here in the United States Senate.

“God bless our nation and may God continue to bless our great State of Nebraska. Happy Statehood Day!”
